摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device which eliminates a spark advance control failure due to scoop-out of a lock pin to improve exhaust emission, fuel consumption and deterioration of driving capability. SOLUTION: This valve timing control device is provided with a cam phase actuator having a first rotor to be synchronously rotated with a crank shaft of an internal combustion engine, a second rotor fixed to a cam shaft of the internal combustion engine and a lock mechanism for locking the second rotor at a first relative angle in relation to the first rotor, an oil pump for generating the oil pressure of the internal combustion engine, a computing means for computing a current value corresponding to the oil pressure for releasing the lock condition at the first relative angle to change the angle to the second relative angle, and an oil pressure adjusting means for supplying the oil pressure for adjusting a cam phase of the second rotor in response to the current value. The computing means determines whether the lock mechanism is in the lock condition or the lock release condition, and when the lock mechanism is in the lock condition, the computing means releases the lock.
