PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device such as a camera which is capable of high-precision AF without requiring any EEPROM. SOLUTION: The electronic device having a one-chip microcomputer including a 1st port (driving port) group for driving liquid crystal (LCD 7) and a 2nd port (control port) group for control has a control means (CPU 1, SW control circuit 3) which switches the 1st port group to input ports 4 prior to the operation of the electronic device for liquid crystal display, detects the connection state of those ports, and control the operation of the electronic device for liquid crystal display according to the detection result.
