PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior wall construction structure, and exterior wall construction method superior in workability, strength, and ventilation performance. SOLUTION: This exterior wall construction structure 1 fastens an exterior wall board 4 via a fastening metal fitting 3 to metallic furring strips 2 fixed to a structural skeleton. The metallic furring strips 2 are an almost rectangular shape in a horizontal cross section, and have a rear plate part 21, a front plate part 22, and a side plate part 23. A locking opening part 24 is arranged in a plurality in the front plate part 22. The fastening metal fitting 3 has a base board part 31, a support part 32, an upper plate locking part 33, a lower plate locking part 34, an upper leg part 35, a lower leg part 36, and an engaging groove 37. The fastening metal fitting 3 engages the lower plate locking part 34 with an upper side part 41 of a lower side exterior wall board 4, and the engaging groove 37 with the front plate part 22, allows the upper leg part 35 to abut to the front plate part 22, supports a lower side part 42 of an upper side exterior wall board 4 by the support part 32, and is locked by the upper plate locking part 33.
