A device package has a bezel (400) attached to a carrier (325). The bezel (400) extends toward a surface (312) of an optical component (310) to which a device (320) mounted in the carrier (325) is attached. The bezel (400) extends in a direction and to a distance that allows the bezel (400) to act as a guide (410) for a dislodging tool (340). The dislodging tool (340) is guided to an interface where an adhesive (330) attaches the device (320) to the optical component (310). Preferably, the device (320) is a microdisplay attached to a prism assembly (300). The bezel (400) may also be used to attach the device package to the optical component (310) with either an air gap (500) or a liquid (875) coupling the microdisplay (320) and/or an optical stack (415, 420, 425) and the optical component (310). An air bladder, air bubble, or tube device is included in the liquid coupling to accommodate expansion of the liquid.
