The disclosure describes a method of determining the biochemical or biophysical properties of a protein. The method includes providing a database of protein sequence information and protein biochemical and/or biophysical properties. The method also includes analyzing the database using a data mining technique, correlating protein sequence and properties. In other aspect the disclosure describes a method of data mining protein data. The method includes accessing data identifying respective outcomes associated with a set of proteins subjected to a set of conditions, and analyzing the data based on the outcomes.
