<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene terephthalate film for a heat-sensitive recording material having excellent printability when used as a heat-sensitive transfer ribbon. <P>SOLUTION: A biaxially stretched polyethylene terephthalate film for the heat-sensitive recording material has a thickness of 2 to 6 μm. The film simultaneously satisfies characteristics of (a) F5 value of a longitudinal direction of 120±20 MPa, (b) F5 value of a lateral direction of 100±10 MPa, (c) F5 value of the longitudinal direction>(F5 value of the lateral direction)+10 MPa, (d) a refractive index (nx) of the longitudinal direction of 1.675 to 1.695, (e) a refractive index (ny) of the lateral direction of 1.625 to 1.645, (f) a heat shrinkage factor of 150°C of the longitudinal direction of 1.5 to 3.0%, (g) a heat shrinkage factor of 150°C of the lateral direction of 0.2 to 0.8%, and (h) a breaking strength of the lateral direction ≤200 MPa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
