<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting known genes by reacting with and detecting a DNA probe and a sample DNA without losing them with high reproducibility and quantitativity and an easy operation. <P>SOLUTION: After bringing the probe DNA and the sample DNA into hybridized reaction, the resulting product is separated according to a molecule amount by electrophoresis so as to detect a target gene based on a number of detected bands. Since a form of the product differs based on forms of the probe DNA and the sample DNA, the product separated according to the molecule amount is detected based on absorbance or fluorescence. Because the number of bands differs between a hybridized state and non-hybridized state, an existence of the subject gene can be detected based on the number of bands. Further, the method improves reproducibility in detecting the known genes. The method used for detection is mature, versatile, and easy.
