PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breaker which can attenuate transmitted light emitted from an optical fiber up to a safe level, can be very inexpensive, and has superior working property. SOLUTION: The breaker 10 has a clamp member 20 which substantially blocks light guided in an optical fiber by clamping and bending the optical fiber or an optical fiber cord, etc., obtained by coating the outer circumference of the optical fiber to larger than specified curvature, and the clamp member 20 has at lest an area, contacting the optical fiber cord, etc., formed of a material which elastically deforms, and thus the breaker 10 can attenuate the transmitted light emitted from the optical fiber up to the safe level.
