摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct registration shift in the subscanning direction at an accuracy of 1 pixel or less by controlling the facial phase of a polygon mirror in each scanner accurately even when the phase is controlled at the time of initial starting or rotation of the polygon mirror is stopped temporarily. SOLUTION: At the time of correcting a registration shift in the subscanning direction caused by variation in the phase of a polygon mirror drive motor 18 in each scanner 10 of an imaging apparatus 1 at an accuracy of 1 pixel or less, phase control is performed accurately by arranging the number of faces and the number of poles of an applicable polygon mirror 13 to satisfy such a relation as the control angle is equal to an integer times of a division angle and the facial phase of the polygon mirror 13 is controlled accurately after restart thus correcting registration shift in the subscanning direction based on the correction amount stored at the time of initial phase control.
