PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing at a low temperature and for a short time a water absorbent which is excellent in absorptive characteristics such as the balance of a water absorption under no pressure and a water absorption under pressure and which is excellent in safety. SOLUTION: The water absorbents are each such one that a highly water absorptive resin (a) is blended with an oxetane compound (b) and a water-soluble additive (c) indicating acidity in water; such another one that a highly water absorptive resin (a) is blended with an oxetane compound (b) and the second crosslinker (d) having a structure different from that of the above oxetane compound; and such still another one that a highly water absorptive resin (a) is blended with an oxetane compound (b) and a compound (e) which is different from the above oxetane compound and has at least one hydroxy group.
