PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect the number of a small number of paper sheets regardless of the kind of paper sheet such as recording paper. SOLUTION: One side surface (lower surface) of recording papers P is heated by a heater 11, and the temperature of the other side surface (upper surface) is detected by a temperature detector 12. A control device 50 determines the number of the recording papers P nipped between the heater 11 and the temperature detector 12 by operation according to the detected temperature.
