PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical panel wherein cracking strength of a substrate is improved by removing blemishes and cracks generated at the substrate in a manufacturing stage and to provide a method for manufacturing the electrooptical panel. SOLUTION: After a mask is formed at a part of an outer surface of the electrooptical panel formed by sticking two glass substrates to each other, etching is performed and then the mask is removed. Thereby, blemishes and cracks existing on the outer surface of the glass substrate except the part where the mask is formed can be removed. In a state of a large plate panel substrate before it is cut into individual electrooptical panels, after masks are formed on side surfaces of the large plate panel substrate, the whole outer surfaces thereof are etched and blemishes and cracks existing on the upper and the lower surfaces of the large plate panel substrate can be removed.
