<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front-light type liquid crystal display which prevents a bright line from being formed at an adhesive end of a gap holding member and improves luminance and luminance uniformity. <P>SOLUTION: In a structure wherein a light guide plate 3 provided on a view side of a liquid crystal panel 2 is fixed at the outside circumference of a display area 8 by using the gap holding member 5 having an adhesive at least on the side of the light guide plate 3, an adhesive having a smaller refractive index than that of the light guide plate 3 is used, a light absorptive or reflective member is provided in an area of the light guide plate 3 opposite the adhesive arrangement position, and fine unevenness provided on the view side of the light guide plate is not formed in the area facing the adhesive arrangement position to suppress light incidence on the adhesive from the light guide plate. Further, an adhesive containing a light-absorptive material is used to absorb light incident on the adhesive from the light guide plate 3, and consequently the generation of a bright line at a projection part of the adhesive is suppressed, thereby the liquid crystal display of high display quality is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
