<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a positive image forming material which is produced under a wide range of development conditions when the coating solution of a positive type photosensitive composition is applied and dried on the surface of a support detachably fixed on the peripheral face of a drum to form a photosensitive layer and then the photosensitive layer is subjected to scanning exposure with a laser light source and developed to make a positive image appear. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for producing a positive image forming material, in a positive type photosensitive composition containing a photothermal conversion material (A) and an alkali-soluble resin (B), an indole-base dye represented by formula (I) is contained as the photothermal conversion material (A), wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently alkyl which can have a substituent; R<SP>3</SP>is a barbituric acid anion group, a thiobarbituric acid anion group, aromatic cyclic oxy, aromatic cyclic thio, heterocyclic oxy, heterocyclic thio, halogen or H; each condensed benzene ring can have a substituent; m is 2 or 3; X<SP>-</SP>is a counter anion; n is 0 when R<SP>3</SP>is a barbituric acid anion group or a thiobarbituric acid anion group and n is 1 when R<SP>3</SP>is the other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
