PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit continuous cleaning of a surface of a lift-out roll and to prevent the surface of the roll from being mechanically damaged in this case. SOLUTION: A cleaning block 20 is supported on the lower side of the lift-out roll 10 and this cleaning block 20 is adapted to consist of a pulverized rigid material, for example, a mixture composed of Sic, ZrO<SB>2</SB>and/or Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>.
