PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and properly carry out a suction recovery process at an ink jet recording head where discharge parts having different discharge amounts of liquid drops to be discharged are mixedly present. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording head comprises a recording element substrate 11 with the discharge part which has particularly relatively small discharge openings 27 for discharging liquid drops by a relatively small discharge amount, and the other recording element substrate with the discharge part which has particularly relatively large discharge openings for discharging liquid drops by a relatively large discharge amount. An opening 28 is set near the small discharge opening 27, which communicates with the discharge part and is opened to an opening face of the discharge opening 27. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
