PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive electronic image pickup device whose entire length is restrained to be short in spite of securing space required for the arrangement of a reflection member in order to make height low by horizontally arranging an imaging device. SOLUTION: The photographic lens of the electronic image pickup device having a photographic lens and the imaging device is constituted of a positive front group G1 consisting of a negative lens and a positive lens, a positive rear group G2 consisting of a negative lens and a positive lens and a diaphragm S arranged between the front group G1 and the rear group G2. When it is assumed that fB is the back focus of the photographic lens, IH is 1/2 of the effective surface diagonal length of the imaging device arranged on an image surface I, and SF is the shape factor of the negative lens of the front group G1, they satisfy following conditions; (1) 2.8<fB/IH<4.5 and (2) 2<SF<3.
