PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening device enhancing workability by easily adding a handle to an end stile of sashes. SOLUTION: The opening device includes a frame 2 provided at an opening in a building and comprising a head 2a, a sill 2b and right and left jambs 2c and 2d; and sashes 3 and 4 openably provided within the frame 2 in a double or single sliding fashion. A recessed part 10 for gripping by hand is formed in the end stile 5d of the sashes 3 and 4 and a back plate member 18 is positioned within the recessed part 10 on the outdoor side. A handle 11 is positioned on the indoor side of the end stile 5d and secured to the back plate member 18 with a fastener 19. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
