The invention relates to an odorant for city gas, containing norbornene or a norbornene derivative, a thinner and optionally additional additives. The inventive odorant is characterised in that it is sulphurless and has a low toxicity and that only a negligible amount is absorbed by the soil. The odorant releases a distinct warning odour, even in low concentrations.
