<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing the difference of image quality between outputted images in the service period of a transfer belt or an intermediate transfer belt. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus where toner images formed on photoreceptor drums 222a to 222d are transferred to paper P carried by the transfer belt 216 is equipped with a rotation history monitoring device 35a for monitoring the rotation history of the transfer belt, a rotation history storing memory 35b for storing rotation history information obtained by the device 35a, a spatial filter processing device 35d for performing spatial filter processing using a filter factor to the digital image signal of an inputted image, and a filter factor controller 35c changing the filter factor used in the device 35d in accordance with the rotation history information stored in the memory 35b.
