<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee protective air bag device for projecting an air bag to the vehicle rear side from a case, and maximally smoothly unfolding and inflating the air bag upward by restraining a projecting quantity to the occupant side. <P>SOLUTION: The folded-up knee protective air bag 44 is housed in the case 12 arranged in front of knees K of a seated occupant MD, and unfolds and inflates upward while eliminating a fold by projecting to the vehicle rear side from the case 12 at inflating gas flowing-in time. The case 12 has an almost quadrangular cylindrical peripheral wall part 13 for opening the vehicle rear side, and a bottom wall part 20 for blocking up the vehicle front side of the peripheral wall part 13. The case 12 is constituted by forming a vertical directional width dimension h1 in the vicinity of an opening 12a larger than a vertical directional width dimension h2 of the bottom wall part 20 when unfolding- inflating the air bag 44, and expansively opening the tip side of the opening 12a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
