<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new variable cam timing system provided with a vacuum controlled actuator. <P>SOLUTION: A variable cam timing system for changing a relative phase between a crankshaft 100 and a camshaft 126 is provided with a vacuum controlled actuator 301 for controlling an axial position of a spool 200 installed in a hole of a center shaft. The vacuum applied on the actuator 301 is adjusted with a vacuum controlled valve 300. The vacuum applied on the actuator 301 deforms a diaphragm 301a to move an actuator rod 301b and move the spool 200 in the hole. Therefore, the flow of fluid in the variable cam phaser is controlled to change the phase between the crankshaft and the camshaft. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
