PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level detector for reliably detecting the level of a liquid even if a liquid adheres to the inside of a pipe. SOLUTION: This liquid level detector 1 is equipped with light projecting and receiving means 12 and 13 mounted on the outside of a light transmissive pipe. The light receiving means 13 receives detection light reflected by an inner circumferential surface of the pipe when no liquid exists at a liquid level detection position of the pipe, thereby determining whether the liquid exists or not. Adjustment is so made as to maximize the amount of light received by the receiving means 13 when the detection light is totally reflected at a position deeper than an internal surface of the pipe by a prescribed amount. The level of the liquid can be surely detected even if the liquid adheres to the inside of the pipe. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
