<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature controlling device for an exhaust gas sensor capable of precisely estimating the temperature of an element part or a heater of the exhaust gas sensor, and of controlling the temperature of the element part to attain a desired temperature stably by using the estimated value. <P>SOLUTION: A sensor temperature control means 18 for controlling the temperature of the element part 10 of the exhaust gas sensor (O<SB>2</SB>sensor) 8 provided in an exhaust passage 3 estimates the temperature of the element part 10 and that of the heater 13 which heats the element part 10, based on an element temperature model and a heater temperature model, respectively. The element temperature model represents a temperature change of the element part 10 in response to a heat transfer between the element part 10 and the heater 13, and that between the element part 10 and exhaust gas. The heater temperature model represents a temperature change of the heater 13 in response to the heat transfer between the element part 10 and the heater 13, and a power supply to the heater 13. Using the estimated value, the control means 18 controls the heater 13 to achieve a predetermined target temperature of the element part 10 or the heater 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
