PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly functional coloring matter which is soluble in an organic solvent, is free from environmental pollution, and has both deodorizing properties and antibacterial properties. SOLUTION: This process for producing the coloring matter containing a chlorophyll part and a resin part involves a step of treating an alkali metal salt of chlorophyll with an acid. The coloring matter comprises one wherein the chlorophyll part is chemically combined with the resin part. Alternatively, the coloring matter comprises a copolymer of chlorophyll with a monomer having an unsaturated double bond. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
