PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester composition using a low molecular weight compound which has high compatibility with the polyester and is water soluble, and to provide a porous polyester obtained by removing the low molecular weight compound from the composition. SOLUTION: The polyester composition comprises a polyester and a cyclic amide compound shown by formula (I) (in which R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are, same or different, each a 2-10C hydrocarbon group which may contain a branched structure; and R<SP>3</SP>is a 1-20C hydrocarbon group which may contain a branched structure), a ratio of the polyester/the cyclic amide compound being 1/99-99/1 by wt.
