PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optically active compound (optically reactive chiral agent) having photosensitivity and capable of largely changing spiral pitch (distortion force) of a liquid crystal.

SOLUTION: The optically active compound is an optically active isosorbide expressed by formula (I) [wherein A1and A2express each independently an aryl; B1and B2express each independently H or an alkyl; A1and B1or A2and B2can bond to each other to form a 5-membered or 6-membered ring; R1and R2express each independently H or an alkyl; L1and L2express each independently a halogen, an alkyl or an alkoxy; (m) and (n) express each independently 0-4 integer, when m ≥2 integer, L1may be the same group or different group, and when n ≥2 integer, L2may be the same group or different group].
