PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a warning on the occurrence of camera shake cannot be given because an image signal at a sufficient level is not obtained when an object is dark in a vibration detection system using a range- finding sensor to detect the camera shake when photographing, with respect to a conventional camera. SOLUTION: The camera shake state is detected according to the change with time of the object image signal of the object to be photographed by a vibration detection means, and warning display on the camera shake exerting influence on a photograph is performed to a photographer by a display means. In the case of performing exposure with electronic flash light emission because the object is dark, the warning display on the camera shake is inhibited. By detecting the camera shake by generating an image signal at the time of preliminary light emission performed several times in order to prevent a red-eye phenomenon occurring on the object in the case of performing the exposure with the electronic flash light emission and giving the warning on the camera shake, the camera shake at the time of preliminary light emission when a time lag is long is prevented, and the camera shake is prevented from occurring in the case of performing the exposure.
