PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning unit for an ink jet printer capable of selecting a wiping operation, a capping operation and a vacuuming pump operation by drive of a common driving source, and driving the same by drive of another common driving source. SOLUTION: After selecting a wiping operation or a capping operation by backward rotation of a pump motor for a Y ink, a main driving motor 40 is rotated forwardly for executing a wiping operation or a capping operation in one direction, and the main driving motor 40 is rotated backwardly for executing a wiping operation or a capping operation in the other direction.
