PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet apparatus which can carry out initial filling of a liquid smoothly. SOLUTION: A head member 6 has a pressure generation chamber 17 which communicates with a nozzle opening 15 and stores an article delivery liquid inside, liquid communication paths 18, 19 and 44 which communicate with the pressure generation chamber 17 and are filled with the article delivery liquid, and a pressure generation means 13 for discharging liquid drops from the nozzle opening by changing the pressure of the liquid in the pressure generation chamber 17. There are set liquid supply paths 42 and 43 which make the interior of liquid chambers 7a-7f of a liquid container 7 set at a liquid container setting part 1 communicate with the liquid communication paths 18, 19 and 44, and are filled with the article delivery liquid; a suction means 9 for sucking the liquid from the nozzle opening; and a heating means 23 for heating the head member 6. When the liquid container 7 is set at the liquid container setting part 1, a transfer liquid suction control unit 20 controls the heating means 23 to heat the head member 6, and at the same time controls the suction means 9 to suck the article delivery liquid from the nozzle opening 15.
