The means of transportation is especially a bicycle and muscle power transmission is via a lever (4) which through at least one freewheel (6) is in direct communication with the driving hub (A). A pedal (5) is connected to the lever. The movement of the lever takes place discontinuously and is especially up and down, or back and forth. Stops (7) are provided to act as the changeover points of the back and forth movement. The upwards movement of the lever may be assisted by a spring.
