PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate assembling of a paper placing member to a clincher arm 14 and to enable separate discarding by simply separating a stapler without a special tool. SOLUTION: The paper placing member 24 is disposed between both side walls 30 of the clincher arm 14, a hook piece 31 projected backward is formed on the lower surface side of the rear end of the paper placing member 24, and a projecting part 35 is formed on the lower surface of a side wall 34. The hook piece 31 is projected on the lower surface of the clincher arm 14 through an opening 32 formed in the base of the clincher arm 14, and the hook piece 31 and the projecting part 35 are engaged with an end edge 33 on the rear side of the opening 32 from the upper and lower surfaces to assemble the paper placing member 24 to the clincher arm 14 to be freely rocked.
