PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plier having a lock mechanism for superposing large plate materials such as wooden board materials or metal plates in parallel or at different angles and grappling the materials for keeping this state. SOLUTION: This plier comprises a body 1 of a U-shaped frame body having a grappling part 1a for grappling a matter from the downside at its tip, a slider 2 that has a grappling part 2a for grappling a matter from the upside at its tip and can slide in the body 1, a handle 3 including a clutch lever 5 engaging with a gear tooth 2b formed on a side surface of the slider 2, a release lever 4 pivoted to the body 1, a stopper 10 that turns integrally with the release lever 4 and meshes with the gear tooth 2b of the slider 2 to lock the sliding of the slider 2, and a coil spring 9 for energizing a gear tooth 5a of the clutch lever 5 and a gear tooth of the stopper 10 to always mesh with the gear tooth of the slider 2.
