PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining method and a machining apparatus, which can accurately and widely produce minute undulations on the surface of a workpiece by cutting. SOLUTION: Minute undulations are formed on the surface of the workpiece by reciprocating a cutting tool fixed to a drive mechanism unit having a drive source, which is able to minutely move at a high speed in the vertical direction of the workpiece surface, while moving the workpiece mounted on a movable body, which can be driven in the definite direction by a constant speed drive control method.
