<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for coating a food, with which an application feeling like coating by human fingers is obtained without causing loss in shape of a formed material by simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for coating the food comprises a coating roller 3 for receiving a horse-radish W sent from a nozzle 22 and a support shaft 4 for rotatably supporting the coating roller 3. A space G is formed by making the diameter of the bearing hole 31 of the coating roller 3 larger than the diameter of the support shaft 4.
