APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING PACKET DATA IN FAST PACKET DATA TRANSFER MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transmitting packet data in a fast packet data transfer mobile communication system are provided to transmit common packet channel preamble from the fast packet data transfer mobile communication system, thereby preventing lowering of the receipt quality of a packet channel due to distortion of a receiving signal level generated whether the packet channel is discontinuously transmitted. CONSTITUTION: A packet data transmitter transmits packet data to a packet data channel. A preamble signal generator transmits a preamble signal according to a gain of the packet data channel. A selection signal generator generates a selection signal for transmitting the preamble signal prior to the packet data transmission point when the data transmission is started. A multiplexer outputs the preamble signal according to the selection signal. In case that the multiplexer receives no selection signal, the multiplexer time-divides and outputs the packet data.
