PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cermet tool enabling easy visual discrimination between an abrasive part and a nonabrasive part, and proper determination of time when lifetime of the tool expires. SOLUTION: The cermet tool 1 has a surface coat layer formed on a surface of a cermet sintered body. When a in appearance brightness and chroma of the coat layer are represented by VS and CS in terms of brightness according to JIS Z8721, either VS of≥6 and/or CS of≥4 is satisfied. Appearance of the coat layer shows a substantially achromatic color or a chromatic color within a hue range from 5PB via 5RP to 5Y on a hue circle specified in JIS Z8721. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
