PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffusing method with which a diffusible level is high, a diffused quantity is adjustable, and an automatic diffusion is carried out for a long time with only one time setting, in the method for diffusing to an open air a liquid ingredient extracted from trees (hereafter called as a tree essence). SOLUTION: A lumber 2 is drilled with a cylindrical two-step structuring hole composed of a small hole 6 and a large hole 7, a vessel 8 containing inside the tree essence 1 produced from the lumber 2 of a same species is housed in the two-step structuring hole in such a way the distal end 9 with a perforation of a needle size is placed downward, and the tree essence 1 is permeated into the lumber 2 little by little, thereby diffusing to the open air through lumber cells of the same species. Adjustment of a width and a height of the small hole 6 in the two-step structuring hole allows a spacing to be provided between the distal end 9 of the vessel and the bottom face of the small hole 6, and the hole of the lumber 2 is mounted with a top with which an opening/closing size is freely adjustable.
