PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a degree of compression from being made too much or too little by a difference of an object or a difference of a radiographed portion in a dynamic range compressing method for a radiation picture.

SOLUTION: In the dynamic range compressing method for the radiation picture for obtaining a processed image signal Sproc carrying an image of a narrower dynamic range than that of an original image by processing an original image signal Sorg, in accordance with at least one of information on a dynamic range of the object and information on the radiographed portion of the object, at least one of the dynamic range compressing method and the degree of compression is changed.
