PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microlens forming method capable of forming a microlens on an object such as a substrate or the like with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The flowable lens material 2 charged in the recessed parts of an intaglio 1 is transferred to the object 3 to form lens matrices 4 having a shape almost coinciding with that of the recessed part 1a. Further, the lens matrices 4 are heated and softened to be shaped into a suitable shape as lenses. That is, since the fundamental shapes of the microlenses 6 can be controlled by the shape of the recessed parts 1a provided to the intaglio 1, the microlenses 6 can be formed on the object 3 such as the substrate or the like with high accuracy even if a lens size becomes small.
