摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a non-hygroscopic and strong heat insulating material for solving the problem that a foam is excellent in heat resistance but the absorption of moisture in the foam results in lowering of the heat insulation and the lack of strength. SOLUTION: A skinned foam composite body can be formed by one process by putting powdered plastic and crosslinked expanding particular bodies of polyolefin in a mold and heating them under rotation. The resultant composite body is non-hygroscopic and strong, excellent as heat insulating material and favorable in cushioning properties and floatability. The heat insulating material is sometimes used under water. At this time, the heat insulating material absorbs water and is compressed under water pressure. The long term usage under water of the heat insulating material can be realized under the condition that expanded plastics with the skin of 2 mm or more are confined in a box made of polyolefin with the skin of the minimum thickness of 1.0 mm or more or confined reinforcing bodies, in the partitioned chambers of which expanded plastics are confined, are confined in a box.
