PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent sudden boiling over. SOLUTION: A pot body 2 has a surrounding wall 5 erected from the bottom part 4 thereof and a detachable lid 3 for closing an opening part 5d at the top surface of the surrounding wall 5. The lid 3 is provided with a lid body 6 to be completely sunk inside the surrounding wall 5 of the pot body 2 and the pot body 2 is provided with a circular retaining step part 8 in the internal surface 5a of the surrounding wall 5 and the periphery part 6a of the sunk lid body 6 is placed on the retaining step part 8. Even when the gruel boiling up pushes up the lid 3 as cooking proceeds and spills through a clearance between the step part 8 and the lid body 6, it is accumulated once inside the surrounding wall 5. This keeps the broth from boiling over outside the pot body as far as it is left without running over the surrounding wall 5 thereby ensuring an allowance for the accumulating thereof inside the surrounding wall 5.
