PURPOSE: An image sensor and a method of processing signals of the image sensor are provided to satisfy gamma characteristics of all kinds of display devices without deteriorating picture quality. CONSTITUTION: An image sensor includes a pixel array(31), an analog signal processor(33), a knee corrector(37), an analog/digital converter(34), a gamma corrector(35), and digital signal processor(36). The pixel array converts an optical signal of a photographed object into an electric signal. The analog signal processor processes the electric signal. The knee corrector compares the level of the processed signal with a predetermined level, expands data lower than the predetermined level and compresses data higher than the predetermined level in response to the comparison result. The analog/digital converter converts the signal output from the knee corrector into a digital signal. The gamma corrector corrects the digital signal corresponding to gamma characteristic of a display. The digital signal processor processes the gamma-corrected data. |
