PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for reciprocating a slide table, which is compact and lightweight. SOLUTION: A base 1 has an end plate 2 for rotatably supporting one end of a feed screw 5 and a connecting end plate 4 for rotatably supporting the other end of the feed screw 5 at both ends thereof, and a recess 1a is formed so as to elongate along the longitudinal direction. A slide table 11 is arranged in the recess 1a so as to reciprocate in its longitudinal direction, and is driven by means of a feed screw 5. An electric motor 21 is dismountably fixed to the connecting end plate 4 in the neighborhood of the base 1 by means of fixing bolts 22 provided between the connecting end plate 4 and a gear housing 25, which fixing bolts 22 do not come off even after removal of the electric motor 21. The gear housing 25 is dismountably fixed to the outside of the connecting end plate 4, and has a driven gear 31 therein, and supports an end portion of a driven shaft 27 disengageably connected to the feed screw 5. Reduction gears 34 to 37 are built in within the gear housing 25 to transmit the rotation of a drive gear 23 fixed to the output shaft 21a of the motor 21 to the driven gear 31.
