Peptide with ACTH activity

Prepn. of D-ser', lys17,18 beta1-24 corticotropine (I) in which arginine in positions 17 and 18 of D-ser' beta1-24 corticotropine have been replaced by lysine; and also the corresponding deriv. in which the glytamyl residue is replaced by glutamine. D-seryl L-tyrosyl L-seryl L-methionyl L-glutamyl L-histidyl L-phenylalanyl L-arginyl L-tryptophyl glycyl L-lysyl L-prolyl L-valyl glycyl L-lysyl L-lysyl L-lysyl L-lysyl L-propyl L-valyl L-lysyl L-valyl L-tyrosyl L-proline. The polypeptide is prepd. by linking small groups of amino acids in which in the amino groups are masked by a t-butoxy carbonyl group and the carboxy groups by a t-butyl ester group, and then combining the larger units. Strong adrenocorticotropic activity.
