<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image by proper gradation in each interest area while suppressing generation of a pseudo outline, when displaying the image wherein an image signal has a very wide dynamic range. <P>SOLUTION: In this image display device, an image processing means 10 applies image processing to an original image P on the basis of two different image processing conditions to obtain images Pf, Pg, while a blurred image formation means 20 forms a blurred image Pb on the basis of the original image P. An image processing means 30 composes the images Pf, Pg according to a composition ratio α set in each pixel depending on an image signal value of the blurred image Pb to form the converted image P'.
