PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the washing performance while greatly saving water. SOLUTION: When a foam-generating pump 24 and an air pump 26 operate, a detergent water which is stored in an external tank 2 is sucked in through a detergent water-sucking in pipe 23. Then, a large amount of fine air bubbles of the detergent are generated by an agitating compressed air which generated by the air pump 26 and the detergent water, and is fed into the external tank 2 through a foam-feeding pipe 25. Thus, in a washing-dehydrating tank 4, a state wherein the detergent water is stored in the lower part, and a thick foam layer is mounted on the top is formed. Therefore, laundry is washed by rotating a pulsator 6 under that state. Since the volume of the foam is much larger than the volume of the detergent water, a water amount to be used is reduced, the detergent concentration of the detergent water becomes high, and therefore, the washing performance is improved as well. Also, foam closely joins to the laundry, and the vibration of ultrasonic waves which are generated accompanying the rupture of air bubbles is effectively applied to the laundry, and the washing performance is increased.
