PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a molded product of chitin, excellent in safety, absorption in an organism and shape retention, useful for a bone fixing material, a bone screw, etc., by cleaning a specific chitin with acetone, packing the cleaned chitin to a mold and removing water. SOLUTION: (A) A chitin from which an inorganic salt and a protein are removed (e.g. a chitin obtained by immersing the external skeleton of a crustacean in diluted hydrochloric acid to remove an inorganic salt and heating the skeleton in a solution of sodium hydroxide to remove a protein) or a chitin which is deacetylated and N-acetylated (e.g. a chitin obtained by treating the backbone of a squid with sodium hydroxide containing sodium boride hydride to de acetylate and N-acetylating) is sufficiently washed with (B) acetone, packed into a mold under pressure, is allowed to stand for a fixed time and water is evaporated under reduced pressure. |
