PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper for machine tool capable of maintaining a high- level scraping performance even if a larger capacity pressed to the scraping surface of a lip section is taken. SOLUTION: The wiper is equipped with a mounting section 1 installed in the machine tool and the lip section 2 comprising an elastic material extensionally-installed aslope for this mounting section 1, to be used with a sharp edge portion 20 of the lip section 2 pressed against its scraping surface. On the opposite side facing the scraping surface of the lip section 2, a recessed area 21 is formed within the range given from the sharp edge portion 20 to the mounting section 1 side, and the length L of the lip section 2 in a pressing direction on the recessed area 21 is defined larger than a pressing capacity of the lip section 2.
