PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a flux cored wire of excellent quality in which the packing density of flux in a longitudinal direction is uniform without reducing productivity. SOLUTION: Flux of 4 to 10% by mass% to the total mass of the wire is stuck to the surface of a steel sheet, or the steel sheet is further subjected to forming so as to be a tubular shape while sticking the flux. After that, wire drawing is performed, so that the flux cored wire is produced. Preferably, the flux and an adhesive are previously kneaded, and the mixture is applied to the surface of the steel sheet. As the adhesive, water glass or polyvinyl alcohol is used.
